FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Find Answers to Common Questions
Here are answers to the most common questions about Martinoli Ultrasound courses. If you need more information, our team is always here to help.
Who should attend MASTERS-4?
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Specialists (Physiatrists), Sports Medicine Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Radiologists, Rheumatologists, Pain Medicine Physicians, Family Medicine/Primary Care Medicine Specialists, Emergency Physicians, General Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Allied Health Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in MSK ultrasound who want to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in the assessment of shoulder, arm, hip, and thigh.
What is the level of the course?
MASTERS (Martinoli Advanced Sonography Training Expert Resource Seminars) is designed as an advanced-level musculoskeletal ultrasound program. The course is delivered at a fast pace and covers topics in exceptional depth, making it most suitable for participants with prior experience in ultrasound.
That said, motivated beginners are also welcome. While those new to musculoskeletal ultrasound may find the course challenging, many choose to attend to build a strong foundation and gain exposure to expert-level techniques and interpretation. We encourage beginners to review basic ultrasound principles beforehand to maximise their learning experience.
Is previous ultrasound experience required?
No. Previous ultrasound experience is not required, and we have welcomed participants with no prior ultrasound experience in past MASTERS courses. During registration, participants are asked to indicate their level of ultrasound experience using one of the following categories:
- None – No ultrasound experience
- Minimal – I don’t use ultrasound often
- Limited – I use ultrasound weekly or monthly
- Moderate/Experienced – I use ultrasound daily
This information helps us thoughtfully assign participants to hands-on workshop groups, allowing us to balance experience levels and create the most effective learning environment for everyone.
What language is the course conducted with?
The official language of the course is English. All lectures and presentations are delivered in English.
During the hands-on workshops, instructors may choose to teach in the local language only if all participants in the group and the instructor are fluent in that language. If any participant in the group does not speak the local language, the workshop will be conducted in English to ensure an inclusive learning environment for everyone.
Will there be hands-on practice?
Yes. MASTERS places a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. Each workshop session is structured to maximise scanning time, allowing participants to apply the techniques demonstrated during the lectures.
To prioritise practical experience, instructors will spend no more than 10 minutes at the beginning of each workshop providing a focused demonstration. The remainder of the 1 to 1.5-hour session (depending on the anatomical structure being covered) is dedicated to supervised hands-on scanning.
To ensure every participant receives adequate scanning time and instructor guidance, all participants are expected to observe the allocated time limits during each workshop.
How many participants are in each group?
Each hands-on workshop group consists of 5 to 6 participants, providing ample opportunities for supervised scanning and individualised instruction.
Participants are assigned to groups based on the following factors:
- Level of ultrasound experience
- Medical specialisation
- Country or region
To ensure fairness and maximised hands-on scanning time for everyone, participants are expected to remain with their assigned group throughout the course. Requests to transfer between groups are generally not permitted, as they can disrupt workshop flow and reduce learning opportunities for other participants.
Is photography or video recording allowed?
Yes, with certain restrictions.
Permitted
- Taking photos and short videos during hands-on workshops and live demonstrations is allowed.
- All photos and videos must be for personal use only.
Discouraged
- Photographing or recording lecture slides, lecture videos, or substantial portions of the presentations is strongly discouraged.
Intellectual Property
All lecture materials, including Prof. Martinoli’s slides, images, videos, and educational content, are protected by intellectual property rights.
Without prior written permission from Martinoli Ultrasound, Prof. Martinoli, or other speakers/lecturers, participants must not:
- Share or distribute course materials to non-participants.
- Use course materials in publications, research, teaching materials, presentations, or other professional works.
- Reproduce, modify, or republish course content.
- Use course materials without proper authorisation or attribution.
Unauthorised use, reproduction, or distribution of course materials may constitute an infringement of intellectual property rights and may result in appropriate legal action.
Are CME/CPD credits available?
Martinoli Ultrasound courses are not CME/CPD-accredited by default, unless explicitly stated on the event page.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion indicating the total number of theoretical and practical education hours completed.
Participants may choose to apply for self-claimed CME/CPD credits through their respective professional association, medical society, college, or regulatory body, where such recognition is permitted. Please note that the approval of self-claimed credits is entirely at the discretion of the relevant authority. Martinoli Ultrasound cannot guarantee approval and is not responsible if CME/CPD credit is not granted.
Is travel and accommodation included?
No. Course tuition covers participation in the educational program only. Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel, accommodation, visa requirements, travel insurance, meals (unless otherwise specified), and any other personal expenses.
Martinoli Ultrasound does not arrange travel, accommodation, or related services for participants. While we may provide information about nearby hotels, partner hotels, or travel agencies as a courtesy, all bookings and arrangements are made solely at the participant’s discretion and responsibility.
Martinoli Ultrasound is not liable for any travel, accommodation, or other related costs incurred under any circumstances, including if the course is postponed, rescheduled, or cancelled by Martinoli Ultrasound.
Are meals included?
Yes. Course tuition includes morning snacks, a buffet lunch, and afternoon snacks on each course day. All-day coffee is also available throughout the event.
During registration, participants are asked to indicate any dietary requirements or food allergies. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these requests in coordination with the venue and catering provider. However, the availability of special dietary meals may be more limited than standard meal options and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing the following items to ensure a comfortable and productive learning experience:
- Notebook or paper and pen for taking notes
- Tablet or laptop (optional) for digital note-taking and reviewing course materials
- A jacket or sweater, as room temperatures may vary throughout the day
- A reusable water bottle or tumbler for water refills
- A valid photo ID for registration and identification purposes
All ultrasound equipment, scanning models, and course materials required for the hands-on workshops will be provided during the course.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. Payment plans of up to three (3) months may be available. Payment plan terms and availability are subject to change without notice as the event date approaches.
Will registration periods be extended?
No. Registration deadlines are final, and no extensions will be granted.
Is there a ticket limit?
Yes. Only one (1) ticket may be purchased per registration transaction. This policy helps reduce or eliminate registration failures that may occur due to varying credit and debit card transation limits imposed by banks worldwide.
Will there be discounts?
Only a minimal discount may be available during General Registration and Late Registration through Martinoli Ultrasound Affiliate Promoters, including participating instructors and authorised promoters.
Will there be another delivery of MASTERS-4 in 2027 at another location?
No. MASTERS-4 will only be offered once in 2027, and Malaysia is the only scheduled location. There are no plans to deliver the same course in another city or country in 2027. If you intend to attend, we strongly encourage you to register during the Early Access Registration period, as seats are limited and another opportunity will not be available in the same year.
Is there a possibility that the course may be cancelled?
The organiser reserves the right to cancel the course due to acts of nature, insufficient registration, or other circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
Should the course be cancelled, participants will receive a 100% refund of the course fee paid. However, Martinoli Ultrasound is not responsible for any travel, accommodation, visa, or other arrangements made by participants.
At the conclusion of the waitlist period, the organiser will evaluate whether there is sufficient demand to proceed with registrations. If demand is insufficient, the course may be postponed and rescheduled to another date within the same year or the following year, or cancelled entirely.
If you know colleagues or anyone from your network who may be interested in attending, we encourage you to invite them to join the waitlist. Strong interest helps support the successful delivery of the program.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
1. Cancellation by Martinoli Ultrasound (MU)
- MU reserves the right to cancel the course due to acts of nature, insufficient registrations, or any other circumstances beyond its reasonable control. In such cases, 100% of the course fee will be refunded.
- MU is not liable for any travel, accommodation, or other arrangements made by the participant.
2. Change of Speaker/Instructor
- In the event that Prof. Carlo Martinoli and/or any initially-rostered instructor becomes unavailable due to illness or any other reason, the course will proceed with a different qualified speaker/instructor delivering the same course content.
